Expert Insights: Navigating Market Adjustments for Restaurant Technology

Truist's Revised Outlook on Toast's Financial Trajectory

On February 25, Truist reassessed its valuation for Toast, Inc., a prominent provider of financial technology solutions for the restaurant industry. The firm reduced its price objective for TOST from $42 to $36. Despite this adjustment, Truist maintained its 'Buy' recommendation for the stock, indicating a continued belief in its long-term potential. This revised target primarily stems from an updated financial model informed by Toast's recent fourth-quarter financial disclosures.

Anticipated Growth Amidst Initial Quarterly Challenges

Truist analysts expressed an expectation that Toast, Inc. will demonstrate robust growth throughout 2026, often surpassing and subsequently raising initial projections. However, the firm also highlighted potential headwinds in the first quarter of the current year. The prevailing challenging market conditions might temper revenue growth, potentially limiting the extent to which Toast could exceed its revenue forecasts in the near term.

DA Davidson's Perspective on Toast's Fiscal Performance

Earlier in the month, on February 17, DA Davidson also adjusted its price target for Toast, Inc., lowering it from $36 to $33. The firm decided to keep its 'Neutral' rating on the stock. DA Davidson acknowledged that Toast's fourth-quarter results concluded a strong fiscal year for the company, indicating a period of solid operational performance and financial achievement in 2025.

EBITDA Forecast Adjustments and Market Context

Following their review, DA Davidson made slight downward revisions to its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) forecasts for Toast, Inc. for both 2026 and 2027. These adjustments, approximately 2% for each year, reflect the firm's updated expectations regarding the company's future profitability. While acknowledging Toast's intrinsic value and market position, analysts are prudently factoring in current economic dynamics.
