The upcoming 15th Archer Film Festival, a completely student-managed initiative dedicated to empowering female cinematographers and amplifying underrepresented narratives, is scheduled for April 17. The event will take place at the Pacific Design Center's Silver Screen Theater in West Hollywood. A highlight of the festival will be a panel discussion titled 'Women Behind the Camera: Shifting Power in Film.'

This insightful conversation will feature Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences president Lynette Howell Taylor, Oscar-winning producer Sara Murphy, known for 'One Battle After Another,' and director Nastasya Popov. These industry leaders will explore the evolving dynamics of influence within the entertainment world and discuss their roles in actively redefining the stories presented on screen and the mechanisms through which these stories are brought to fruition.

Lynette Howell Taylor, as the current president of the Academy, maintains an active role as a producer with an impressive portfolio including recent works such as 'The Accountant 2' and 'Roofman,' alongside critically acclaimed films like 'A Star Is Born,' 'The Accountant,' 'Big Eyes,' 'The Place Beyond The Pines,' 'Half Nelson,' 'Blue Valentine,' and 'I Know This Much Is True.'

Sara Murphy recently received an Academy Award for Best Picture for her work on Paul Thomas Anderson’s 'One Battle After Another.' Her producing credits also encompass 'Licorice Pizza,' 'Never Rarely Sometimes Always,' 'Anima,' 'If Beale Street Could Talk,' 'If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,' and 'The History of Sound.'

Nastasya Popov, a notable director and writer, gained significant recognition when her debut feature film, 'Idiotka,' was acquired by Utopia following its world premiere at SXSW in 2025. Popov is an alumna of the Archer School for Girls and was instrumental in the establishment of the Archer Film Festival.

Beyond the panel, the festival will showcase a selection of finalist films chosen from over 300 student-produced submissions spanning more than 50 countries.
