Streaming Dominance: “The Boys” Leads, Newcomers “Running Point” and “Man on Fire” Impress

Between April 27 and May 3, 2026, Nielsen’s streaming data revealed Amazon Prime Video’s acclaimed series, “The Boys,” seizing the number one position across all platforms. The series garnered an impressive 947 million minutes of watch time, signifying a 7 percent increase from the prior week. This achievement marks its first return to the top spot since the conclusion of its fourth season in July 2024. Not far behind, Netflix’s “Running Point” secured the second position overall, experiencing a 17 percent surge in viewership following its second-season debut, reaching 900 million minutes. Another Netflix original, “Man on Fire,” made a striking entrance, logging 805 million minutes and marking the week’s most substantial debut. Furthermore, HBO Max’s “The Pitt” continued to hold its ground in the top ten originals, attracting 583 million minutes of viewing two weeks post-finale. In the realm of acquired content, the former NBC series “La Brea,” which aired from 2021 to 2024, made a robust showing after its addition to Netflix on May 1, accumulating 881 million minutes. The movie sector also saw activity, with “Apex” maintaining its lead for a second consecutive week with 697 million minutes, and Netflix’s animated feature “Swapped” debuting with 503 million minutes. “The Devil Wears Prada” notably increased its viewership on HBO Max and Hulu, gathering 328 million minutes, coinciding with its sequel's theatrical release.

This week's streaming landscape vividly illustrates the dynamic nature of content consumption, highlighting the sustained appeal of established series like “The Boys” and the immediate impact of new releases such as “Running Point” and “Man on Fire.” The strong performance of “La Brea” also underscores the value of library content in attracting viewers to new platforms. These trends provide valuable insights into audience preferences and the competitive strategies of major streaming services, underscoring the importance of diverse content offerings—from original hits to compelling acquired titles and popular films—in capturing and retaining viewership in the ever-evolving digital entertainment space.
