The Critics Choice Awards recently solidified its future, announcing a two-year extension of its broadcasting agreement with Versant, which will see the partnership continue until 2028. This renewed commitment ensures the esteemed awards ceremony will maintain its prominent position at the start of the annual awards season. The 32nd iteration of the event is slated for January 3, 2027, promising another celebration of cinematic and television excellence.

For the third consecutive year, the Critics Choice Awards will be hosted at the distinguished Barker Hanger in Santa Monica. Audiences across the nation will be able to experience the event live, broadcast simultaneously on E! and USA Network. The ceremony will uphold its comprehensive format, continuing to recognize outstanding achievements across both film and television categories, including releases for theatrical distribution, as well as programming on television and streaming platforms.

Joey Berlin, CEO of the Critics Choice Association, expressed enthusiasm regarding the extended collaboration, highlighting the recent surge in viewership. "We are delighted that the Critics Choice Awards will once again inaugurate the awards season at the dawn of the New Year," Berlin stated. "Following a show that saw our viewership numbers double, we are eager to sustain this upward trend by continuing our partnership with the exceptional teams at E! and USA Network through 2028."

Echoing Berlin's sentiments, Val Boreland, President of Entertainment at Versant, emphasized the significance of the ongoing alliance. "What an auspicious beginning to a new year! Our relationship with the Critics Choice Awards endures as we initiate the awards season on E! and USA Network," Boreland remarked. "We take immense pride in bringing this iconic event to viewers and commemorating the year's most distinguished moments in entertainment."

Looking ahead, the nominations for the 32nd annual Critics Choice Awards are scheduled to be unveiled on Friday, December 4, 2026. Historically, these awards have served as a reliable precursor to the Academy Award nominations, often signaling potential Oscar contenders. In the previous year, Paul Thomas Anderson's critically acclaimed film, 'One Battle After Another,' garnered top honors for best picture and director. Furthermore, two of the four acting accolades presented by the Critics Choice Awards ultimately translated into Academy Award victories: Jessie Buckley for her role in 'Hamnet' (Best Actress) and Amy Madigan for Supporting Actress.

The upcoming telecast will once again be under the executive production of Bob Bain Productions and Berlin Entertainment. Dan Black of Greenberg Traurig LLP will continue to represent the awards. This enduring collaboration of key industry players ensures the consistent quality and prestige associated with the Critics Choice Awards, solidifying its status as a pivotal event in the entertainment calendar.

The Critics Choice Awards are poised to continue their tradition of honoring cinematic and television excellence. The renewal of their broadcast deal with Versant and the announcement of the 2027 ceremony date reinforce their position as a significant barometer for success in the entertainment industry.
