Eve Hewson and Tom Burke are slated to headline a forthcoming cinematic endeavor helmed by Lenny Abrahamson, the acclaimed director behind "Normal People." This new project, produced by Element Pictures, a Fremantle affiliate, is scheduled to commence principal photography in Dublin on March 2. The narrative unfolds within Dublin’s Jewish community during the late 1970s, promising a compelling exploration of that era and setting. The film marks a significant collaboration, bringing together a talented cast and an established creative team.
The production team boasts an impressive lineup, with Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures, Catherine Magee (known for her work on "Normal People" and "Small Things Like These"), and Abrahamson himself serving as producers. Abrahamson is also rejoining several key collaborators from his celebrated television series, "Normal People" and "Conversations With Friends." This reunion includes production designer Anna Rackard, director of photography Suzie Lavelle, editor Nathan Nugent, make-up designer Sonia Dolan, and composer Stephen Rennicks. Additionally, costume designer Eimer ní Mhaoldomhnaigh and hair stylist Orla Carroll, both recognized for their contributions to "The Banshees of Inisherin," are part of the creative ensemble, ensuring a cohesive and visually rich production.
Tom Burke's recent appearances include Steven Soderbergh's "Black Bag," and he is also recognized for his roles in "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga," "The Souvenir," and the television series "Strike." Eve Hewson's recent credits feature the film "Flora and Son," as well as TV series "The Perfect Couple" and "Bad Sisters." She is also set to appear in Steven Spielberg’s "Disclosure Day," which is slated for a June release. The film has secured funding from Film4, High Frequency Entertainment, Screen Ireland, and RTÉ. A24 has acquired the distribution rights for the United States, while Elevation Pictures will handle distribution in Canada. FilmNation Entertainment is overseeing international sales, underscoring the film's global appeal.
