In a significant escalation of efforts, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has ramped up its investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of renowned 'Today' anchor Savannah Guthrie. The agency has not only increased its reward for crucial information but has also released updated details about the suspect, aiming to galvanize public assistance in this distressing case.

Details Unfold in the Search for Nancy Guthrie

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has amplified its pursuit of leads in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of 'Today' show host Savannah Guthrie. On a recent Thursday, the FBI Phoenix field office announced a substantial increase in the reward, now offering up to $100,000 for any information that directly leads to Nancy's location or the arrest and conviction of individuals involved in her vanishing. This development was shared through an official statement on social media, underscoring the urgency of the investigation.

Further intensifying the search, the FBI disclosed new identifying characteristics of the suspect. These details emerged following a meticulous forensic examination of doorbell camera footage by the FBI's Operational Technology Division. The suspect is described as a male, roughly 5'9" to 5'10" in height, possessing an average build. A key piece of evidence highlighted is a black, 25-liter 'Ozark Trail Hiker Pack' backpack he was seen wearing in the video. The FBI hopes this refined description will focus public tips, which have already accumulated to over 13,000 since February 1, 2026. Each tip is rigorously assessed for credibility and relevance, with a dedicated 24-hour command post staffed by agents and investigators to action all incoming information.

Concurrently, the Pima County Sheriff's Department revealed on the same Thursday that several items of evidence, including gloves, have been recovered. They have also issued a plea to residents within a two-mile radius of Nancy Guthrie's residence near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue in Tucson, Arizona. Neighbors are urged to submit any video footage from January 1, 2026, to February 2, 2026, that might capture vehicles, pedestrian traffic, or anything unusual. This broad call for digital evidence aims to piece together the events surrounding Nancy's disappearance.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the evening of Saturday, January 31, after being dropped off at her Arizona home by family. Her absence was noted when she failed to attend a virtual church service watch party on Sunday, February 1, prompting a friend to contact her daughter Annie, who subsequently reported her missing. Savannah Guthrie, along with her siblings Annie and Camron, have since made heartfelt public appeals for their mother's safe return, emphasizing their unwavering hope and determination.

This case is a poignant reminder of the importance of community vigilance and the critical role technology plays in modern law enforcement. The collective effort of dedicated law enforcement agencies, advanced forensic analysis, and public cooperation is indispensable in bringing resolution to such cases. Our thoughts remain with the Guthrie family as they navigate this challenging time, hoping for Nancy's safe return.
