Beach House Pictures, under the Fremantle umbrella and based in Singapore, has officially announced the launch of two new documentary productions. These include a three-part wildlife series titled 'Panda School,' featuring the narration of acclaimed comedian and actor Jimmy O. Yang, and a one-hour historical documentary, 'Secret Weapons of China's First Emperor,' developed in collaboration with China Media Group. Fremantle is set to handle the global distribution for both programs.

'Panda School' delves into the lives of young giant panda cubs at a conservation facility situated in the mountainous region of China's Sichuan Province. The series captures their journey as they develop essential survival skills for reintegration into their natural habitat. Produced for Nat Geo EMEA, with Fremantle managing international distribution rights outside specific European, African, and Middle Eastern territories, the series is directed by Hannah Hoare, with Nell Gordon and Drew Jones serving as executive producers for Nat Geo, and Donovan Chan for Beach House Pictures.

Jimmy O. Yang, known for his roles in 'Silicon Valley' and 'Crazy Rich Asians,' lends his voice to all three episodes of 'Panda School.' Yang expressed his enthusiasm for the project, citing his affection for pandas and Chinese culture. He highlighted the series' engaging narrative, describing it as a coming-of-age story brimming with undeniable charm.

'Secret Weapons of China's First Emperor' explores the ascent of Qin Shi Huang, detailing how he unified China's warring states over two millennia ago. The documentary focuses on the military advancements, such as the mass production of bronze weaponry and standardized equipment, that facilitated the rapid and large-scale mobilization of Qin Shi Huang's armies. The film is a result of a partnership with CMG, which provided exclusive access, and incorporates immersive reconstructions and recent archaeological discoveries. The emperor's expansive burial complex, covering 22 square miles, remains largely unexplored. Fremantle holds global distribution rights for this title, excluding China, and it has already been acquired by CCTV in China and SBS in Australia. Donovan Chan and Rob Sixsmith are executive producers for Beach House Pictures, while Han Wein and Tian Yuan executive produce for CMG.

Donovan Chan, creative director at Beach House Pictures, emphasized the company's commitment to compelling storytelling. He noted that 'Panda School' offers an inspiring and emotionally resonant narrative focused on species conservation, while 'Secret Weapons of China's First Emperor' combines unprecedented access with cutting-edge archaeology to shed new light on a pivotal era in Chinese history. These documentaries exemplify Beach House Pictures' dedication to producing high-quality factual content that informs, entertains, and resonates with global audiences.

These latest announcements follow a series of recent commissions for Beach House Pictures, including projects such as '60 Day Hustle,' a Singaporean co-production adapting an Amazon U.S. format for local audiences; 'The Longest Wait,' a feature documentary about the Indonesian national football team; 'Ed Stafford's Rite of Passage,' a six-part adventure series co-produced with Arrow Media; and 'Ski Dreams,' which chronicles Singapore's first professional alpine skiers on their journey to the Winter Olympics.
