However, a deeper economic principle highlights the critical role of lower-income consumers in driving economic activity. When individuals with fewer financial resources receive additional funds, they are considerably more likely to spend that money immediately, rather than save it. This higher 'marginal propensity to consume' among lower-income households means that an incremental dollar directed towards them can have a far greater stimulative effect on the economy compared to the same amount given to wealthier individuals, who are more inclined to save or invest.
