The studio cited insufficient player engagement to sustain the game's long-term viability, leading to the difficult decision to cease development and operations. This move is accompanied by an internal reorganization, which reportedly includes staff reductions, though the studio emphasized its commitment to a fair and supportive transition for affected employees.

The announcement regarding the game's discontinuation was made by Quantic Dream, known for its narrative-driven adventures, on its official Steam page. "Spellcasters Chronicles" was an endeavor by the studio to venture into new creative domains and deliver a unique multiplayer experience.
