Toxe, the acclaimed Swedish musical talent, has embarked on a new chapter with the release of her debut English-language album, Bubble Treasure. This collection of tracks ushers listeners into a mesmerizing auditory world, blending whimsical dream pop with an aquatic-themed soundscape. Born Tove Agélii in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1997, her creative path began with drawing before she discovered her passion for music at 14. This journey led her to move to Berlin at 18, where she delved into art and electronic music, shaping the distinctive style that defines her work today.

Artist Toxe Dives into Dream Pop with New Album and Cinematic Vision

Gothenburg, Sweden, native Tove Agélii, known artistically as Toxe, has released her eagerly anticipated first English album, Bubble Treasure, on September 15, 2026. The album showcases her unique blend of breathy dream pop, drawing listeners into an enchanting underwater world. Toxe's musical odyssey began serendipitously at age 14 after attending a band camp and receiving music software from her brother. This sparked a passion that quickly transformed into a burgeoning career, with early performances and DJ gigs taking her across various locations. At 18, in 2015, Agélii relocated to Berlin, a city she found to be a vibrant hub for online friends and a cost-effective place to live. There, she explored art and architecture while immersing herself in the flourishing electronic music scene, influenced by acts like Yung Lean and the Bala Club collective. Her earlier works include the 2015 EP Muscle Memory and the album Toxe2, released in 2024, featuring the popular single "Som en Sol." Toxe describes her creative process as a collage, drawing inspiration from diverse sources to weave together lyrical narratives, particularly love songs, within Bubble Treasure. The album, comprising 10 tracks under 23 minutes, is characterized by its unified, mystical sound, featuring piano, strings, and percussion. Toxe likens the album's mood to a seafaring quest for a treasure that ultimately reveals itself as bubbles, symbolizing a beautiful, albeit challenging, journey. This "tropical-gothic style" is partly inspired by her boyfriend's roots in Key West, Florida. Tracks like the atmospheric opener "Awe," the rhythmic "Bubble Treasure," and the fluid "Wishing Well" exemplify her narrative-driven, cinematic approach to music. Toxe's unique sound has also caught the attention of the fashion world, with her music featured in shows for Cos (spring 2027), Acne Studios (spring 2018), and Christian Dior (2023), underscoring her growing influence beyond traditional music circles.

Toxe's artistic trajectory highlights the power of self-discovery and embracing one's unique voice. Her journey from a drawing enthusiast to a celebrated musician, unconstrained by conventional pop structures, serves as an inspiring testament to authentic creative expression. The album's concept of a treasure hunt culminating in bubbles offers a profound metaphor for the beauty found in life's ephemeral moments and the value of the journey itself, rather than solely the destination. Her ability to blend diverse inspirations and craft a cohesive, mystical soundscape suggests a promising future for artists who dare to defy categorization.
