Wheelhouse has officially acquired Anomaly Entertainment, a prominent production company known for its extensive work with Discovery Channel's "Shark Week." This strategic move brings Anomaly's creative talent and established programming expertise under the Wheelhouse umbrella, promising an expansion of innovative content development across various platforms.

Anomaly Entertainment was established in 2017 by Matthew Kelly and Michael Sorensen, both of whom previously served as commissioners at Discovery Channel. Their tenure at Discovery included significant contributions to popular series such as "Gold Rush," "Amish Mafia," and "Skywire Live with Nik Wallenda." Following the acquisition, Kelly and Sorensen will continue to lead content creation and format development, while also collaborating with Wheelhouse's sports and investment divisions.

Brent Montgomery, CEO of Wheelhouse, expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, highlighting the unique blend of experience Kelly and Sorensen bring to the table. He remarked on their unparalleled success in both buying and selling content within the industry, emphasizing not only the strong cultural alignment but also the new capabilities Anomaly adds to the Wheelhouse ecosystem, particularly through their collaborations with athletes, entertainers, and creators.

Anomaly has built a strong reputation as a key content provider for Warner Bros. Discovery channels, including Discovery Network, TLC, ID, HGTV, and Food Network. Their portfolio also extends to projects for major streaming services like Netflix, HBO Max, ESPN+, and NFL Films. They have successfully partnered with a diverse array of celebrities and public figures, such as Mark Rober, Tiffany Haddish, Snoop Dogg, and Ludacris, to produce compelling and authentic stories.

The production company is most recognized for its consistent and significant contributions to "Shark Week." Over the past nine years, Anomaly has produced more than 40 shows for the annual Discovery programming block, including popular titles like "Shaq Does Shark Week," "Great White Abyss," and "Jackass Shark Week." Currently, Anomaly is involved in the production of "KPop Shark Heroes," featuring Ken Jeong and Rei Ami, further solidifying its status as a leader in specialized non-fiction entertainment.

Matthew Kelly and Michael Sorensen shared their excitement about joining Wheelhouse, stating that they were seeking a partner to facilitate strategic scaling and growth. They noted that Wheelhouse not only recognized the value of their existing business but also shared their vision for producing content that elevates talent, especially contemporary creators and sports figures, through engaging and authentic storytelling. They expressed eagerness to expand Anomaly's reach across new platforms and offer enhanced capabilities to their clients and collaborators.

Anomaly Entertainment is presently engaged in the production of new series for Discovery, TLC, HGTV, and Food Network, with numerous other projects in development for various streaming services and networks. This acquisition is poised to leverage Anomaly's proven track record and creative prowess, integrating it into Wheelhouse's broader network to generate even more impactful and diverse entertainment offerings.
