The Zurich Film Festival has officially welcomed German producer Martin Moszkowicz, previously the chief executive of Constantin Film, as its new president. In collaboration with the festival's CEO, Christian Jungen, Moszkowicz is poised to spearhead strategic initiatives aimed at bolstering the event's prominence on the global stage. Moszkowicz's extensive background includes executive producer and co-producer roles in over 300 film and television projects, notably the successful franchises “Resident Evil” and “Fack Ju Göhte.”

Christian Jungen expressed confidence in Moszkowicz, highlighting his creative industry roots, deep understanding of the festival, and strong professional networks in Munich and Los Angeles. These connections are vital for reinforcing relationships in key markets such as Germany and the United States. Jungen emphasized Moszkowicz's inspiring leadership and esteemed international reputation, which are expected to be instrumental in transforming the Zurich Film Festival into a globally recognized brand synonymous with exceptional cinema and a significant influence during the awards season. Moszkowicz himself acknowledged the festival's established position on the European calendar and its potential for global growth due to its focus on quality cinema and alignment with the international awards circuit.

Moszkowicz's presidency, which begins on July 1, 2026, will also see the addition of Claudia Lässer and Sabine Boss to the board of directors, as current president Doris Fiala steps down. Lässer, CEO of Entertainment Programm, is a leading figure in the Swiss media landscape, while Boss is a renowned Swiss filmmaker. The festival's 22nd edition is scheduled from September 24 to October 4. Jungen noted that Moszkowicz embodies the festival's ethos, particularly its distinctive, affirmative relationship with Hollywood, contrasting with many older festivals. He also highlighted Zurich's status as a top European tech hub, emphasizing the festival's commitment to embracing new technologies, such as AI in filmmaking, positioning Moszkowicz as a leader who bridges traditional cinema with innovative advancements.

The appointment of Martin Moszkowicz signifies a new chapter for the Zurich Film Festival, focusing on expanding its international reach, enhancing its appeal to leading industry professionals, and deepening its impact on the awards season. By leveraging Moszkowicz's vast experience and network, the festival aims to secure more world and European premieres, attract prominent stars and directors, and further cultivate its unique identity as a transatlantic event that embraces both artistic excellence and technological innovation. This strategic direction is designed to ensure the festival not only continues its upward trajectory but also inspires a more dynamic and forward-thinking cinematic landscape.
