Innovating Kids' Content Monetization in the Digital Age
A Strategic Alliance for Digital Advertising in Children's Entertainment
Hasbro Entertainment and Animaj have officially launched Lumee, a collaborative endeavor focused on optimizing digital advertising sales and fostering brand partnerships within the vibrant children's content space. This new venture is set to redefine how kids' programming is financially supported and distributed online.
Uniting Iconic Brands for Enhanced Digital Reach
Lumee will consolidate the extensive portfolios of both Hasbro and Animaj, encompassing beloved franchises such as "Peppa Pig," "Transformers," "Pocoyo," and "Maya the Bee." This strategic aggregation aims to create a powerful platform for engaging young audiences across various digital channels.
Animaj's Leadership in Digital IP Management
Under the Lumee umbrella, Animaj, a cutting-edge children's media company with significant backing from HarbourView Equity Partners, will take charge of managing these intellectual properties. Their expertise will extend across film, television, animation, and digital platforms, including YouTube, connected TV, and AVOD/FAST services, ensuring a comprehensive digital footprint.
Addressing the Evolution of Children's Digital Engagement
Sixte de Vauplane, co-founder and CEO of Animaj, highlighted the dynamic nature of children's attention spans and curiosities. He emphasized Lumee's role in establishing a vital link between advertisers and the new generation of digitally fluent children, recognizing their unique consumption patterns.
Overcoming Monetization Challenges in Kids' Digital Media
Gregory Dray, co-founder of Animaj and chairman of Lumee, pointed out that despite children's and family content constituting a significant portion of YouTube viewing, its monetization has been severely impacted since 2020. This decline is attributed to regulatory changes that restricted personalized advertising on content deemed "Made for Kids," which, while enhancing child privacy, inadvertently removed key advertising mechanisms.
Maximizing Brand Value While Ensuring Family-Friendly Interactions
Yannick Ferrero, SVP of digital and distribution at Hasbro Entertainment, articulated that the joint venture with Animaj represents a strategic move to unlock the full potential of Hasbro's children's brands for advertisers. A core principle of this partnership is to guarantee that all digital interactions remain safe and suitable for families, prioritizing child protection alongside commercial objectives.
Leveraging AI for Innovative Content Creation
Furthermore, Lumee plans to support the development of original and branded content centered around existing characters. This initiative will heavily rely on Animaj's advanced AI-enhanced production pipeline, which is projected to significantly shorten creative development timelines, potentially by up to 60% compared to conventional animation processes.
