Professional footballer Jorginho has publicly addressed a recent misunderstanding involving his stepdaughter and pop sensation Chappell Roan, aiming to provide a clear and accurate account of the events. Following an earlier accusation that Roan's security detail had intimidated his 11-year-old stepdaughter, Ada, during a breakfast encounter at a São Paulo hotel, Jorginho has since retracted his initial claims. He revealed that new details have emerged, indicating that the singer was not involved in the incident, and the security guard acted independently. This clarification seeks to rectify the record and alleviate any lingering tensions from the initial reports.

The controversy first erupted on March 21, when Jorginho took to social media to recount a "deeply distressing situation" experienced by his stepdaughter. Ada, excited to potentially spot Chappell Roan, merely walked past the singer's table to confirm her presence, smiled, and returned to her mother without making any direct contact or requests. According to Jorginho, a security guard then confronted their table aggressively, accusing Ada of disrespect and harassment. This encounter left the young girl severely shaken and in tears, prompting Jorginho's swift and protective public response.

Jorginho admitted that his initial statements were made "in the heat of the moment," driven by a father's natural instinct to protect his child. He acknowledged that their understanding of the situation was based solely on the information available at the time. However, subsequent outreach from Chappell Roan to Jorginho's wife, Catherine Harding (mother of Ada and former partner of actor Jude Law), along with their representatives, brought crucial new insights. It became evident that Roan had no prior knowledge of the breakfast interaction and had not instructed anyone to approach them. The singer expressed empathy for Ada's distress, clarifying her non-involvement.

Further compounding the misunderstanding was a statement from Pascal Duvier, the security guard in question. Duvier, identifying himself as a "protection specialist" and martial artist, publicly disassociated himself from Chappell Roan, asserting that he was representing another artist at the hotel during the incident. He took "full responsibility" for his actions, confirming that he was not acting on Roan's behalf. While Jorginho still finds it perplexing why Duvier would confront an 11-year-old, he now accepts that Roan was not implicated in the unfortunate event.

The singer, previously facing social media backlash, had also released her own statement on Instagram, emphasizing that she had not seen the mother and child and had not requested any security intervention. She clarified her stance against any aggressive behavior towards her fans or anyone, expressing sadness that the family felt uncomfortable due to the misattribution. A representative for Roan later reiterated her strict policy against aggressive conduct, underscoring her commitment to positive fan interactions.

Jorginho concluded his updated statement by expressing regret over the initial impact his words had on Chappell Roan and his own family. He stressed the importance of setting the record straight, reiterating his commitment to defending his loved ones while also recognizing when initial perceptions may be inaccurate. This comprehensive clarification aims to resolve the dispute and move forward from the unfortunate incident, highlighting the complexities of public statements and the need for thorough understanding.
