Keith Cox Departs Paramount Television Studios After Two Decades

Ta-Nehisi Coates

Author and journalist whose work on culture, race, and history includes writing for Marvel's "Black Panther."

A notable figure at Paramount Television Studios, Keith Cox, is concluding his tenure after two decades of significant contributions to the company's programming. His departure, announced in memos to staff by Cox and Paramount TV Studios president Matt Thunell, marks the end of an era for a leader who was instrumental in shaping much of Paramount's successful television landscape.

Cox's legacy includes being an early and fervent supporter of Taylor Sheridan, whose vision led to the expansive and highly popular 'Yellowstone' universe. He also played a crucial role in developing and producing hit series such as 'Hot in Cleveland' and 'Younger' during his time at TV Land and Paramount Network. His creative partnerships with industry giants like Darren Star and Jez Butterworth yielded global successes like 'Emily in Paris' and critically acclaimed series such as 'The Agency' and 'MobLand.' As Cox transitions, his senior creative team, Todd Baynes and Antonia Covault, will continue their work on existing series, reporting to Carolyn Harris, Head of Current Series, ensuring continuity for these beloved franchises.

Reflecting on his journey, Cox expressed immense pride in the collaborative efforts that brought these shows to life, emphasizing the passion and hard work of the teams involved. He voiced confidence in the future leadership of Dana Goldberg, Matt Thunell, Cindy Holland, Jane Wiseman, and Chris Parnell to uphold the quality and success of Paramount's productions. Cox's career exemplifies how dedication to creative vision and strong partnerships can lead to groundbreaking achievements in the entertainment industry, leaving a lasting impact on both colleagues and audiences.
