The Rio2C event, Latin America's largest gathering for creative industries, is set to further establish its international standing in 2026. This year's conference emphasizes fostering greater collaboration and integration between Brazil's creative sector and that of its Spanish-speaking neighbors, bringing together a diverse array of talent and executives from across the region.

Uniting Creative Visions: Rio2C Bridges Cultures and Industries

Expanding Global Reach and Regional Unity

The 2026 iteration of Rio2C, a pivotal event for Latin American creativity, is poised to cement its status as a leading international forum. Organizer Rafael Lazarini highlights the summit's growing appeal, especially among Spanish-speaking nations in the region, noting a concerted effort to enhance cross-border artistic and business exchanges. The event anticipates exceeding last year's impressive attendance of 55,000 participants and over 2,000 speakers and professionals from nearly 40 countries, underscoring its significant expansion.

Overcoming Linguistic Barriers in Creative Industries

Historically, Brazil, as the sole Portuguese-speaking nation in Latin America, has experienced a degree of isolation from its Spanish-speaking counterparts in the creative sector. However, Rio2C is actively working to dismantle these barriers, promoting a more integrated and collaborative environment among Latin American creative industries. This initiative aims to harness the collective strength and diverse talents of the region, paving the way for unprecedented cross-cultural projects and partnerships.

A Hub for Diverse Creative Sectors

Axel Kuschevatzky, an Argentine producer based in Los Angeles and co-founder of Infinity Hill, will contribute to the Rio2C discussions on maximizing creative output for audience engagement. Kuschevatzky, who has been instrumental in over a hundred film productions, including several Oscar and Golden Globe winners, praises Rio2C for its unparalleled breadth. He notes that unlike specialized forums, Rio2C brings together a vast spectrum of creative disciplines, from music and video games to commercials, film, and television, offering a comprehensive platform for industry professionals.

Distinguished Voices and Global Narratives

The 2026 Rio2C boasts an impressive lineup of international speakers and industry luminaries. Among them are Argentine filmmaker Daniel Burman, who oversees original content for Disney+ Latin America, and Uruguayan musician Jorge Drexler, an Academy Award winner for Best Original Song. Discussions will also feature Gastón Gorali, an Argentine producer and writer behind the new animated adaptation of 'Mafalda' for Netflix, and Brazilian director Daniel Rezende, an Oscar nominee, who will explore the intricacies of modernizing classic Latin American comics for new media platforms.

Humor, High-Tension Narratives, and Distribution Strategies

Further enriching the program, American executive producer Adam Chase, known for 'Friends,' will join Brazilian comedian Fábio Porchat to discuss the evolving landscape of comedy in the digital age. Spanish executive producer Javier Gómez Santander will delve into crafting gripping narratives, drawing from his experience with the globally acclaimed series 'Money Heist.' Netflix's VP of Content for Latin America, Francisco Ramos, will address Latin America's growing influence on the global audiovisual stage, while Arturo Chavez of Delart Distribution will share insights on effective content distribution strategies for diverse markets.

Fostering International Partnerships and Collaboration

The conference will also host a panel on international co-production, featuring producers like Pablo Iraola from Portugal's Ukbar Filmes, Rodrigo Olaio from Chatrone, and Ana Saito from Gullane. These experts will explore strategies for developing viable global projects and enhancing the international reach of creative content. Lazarini emphasizes that Rio2C has been instrumental in overcoming Brazil's historical isolation, fostering a new era of integration and collaboration with other Latin American creative industries.
