Jay Shetty Establishes New Production Company, Secures Netflix Agreements for Two Series

Comedian, writer, and actor who created "The Office" and writes provocatively on comedy and society.

Jay Shetty, a best-selling author and the voice behind the popular podcast “On Purpose,” is expanding his creative endeavors into the realm of television and film with the establishment of his new production company, Perfect Strangers Media. This venture signals a significant step for Shetty, as he transitions from solely audio and literary content to visual storytelling.

Perfect Strangers Media, based in Los Angeles, is dedicated to producing a diverse range of content, including films, television shows, and podcasts, all centered around the theme of human connection. The company’s mission is to craft narratives that resonate with audiences by highlighting universal experiences and fostering a sense of community. Already, the company has announced two notable agreements with Netflix, involving the development of both a scripted and an unscripted series, though specific details remain under wraps. In addition to these, a variety of other projects across different formats are actively being developed.

Shetty’s journey from a former Hindu monk to a global influencer began over nine years ago with viral social media videos, driven by his desire to make ancient wisdom accessible. His “On Purpose” podcast, which remains part of the iHeartPodcasts network, aims to promote well-being and healing. With Perfect Strangers, Shetty intends to broaden this vision, using various media to combat feelings of isolation and underscore our inherent interconnectedness. He believes this focus on shared humanity is particularly crucial in the current global climate. The company’s leadership team includes Joe Hooten, heading film and TV production, and Nicole Berg, serving as creative director to ensure a consistent brand narrative across all projects. Shetty’s previous works, “Think Like a Monk” and “8 Rules of Love,” both achieved bestseller status, further cementing his influence in guiding individuals toward more mindful and connected lives.

Jay Shetty's expansion into media production reflects a profound understanding of the human need for connection and shared narratives. By creating content that highlights universal experiences, he aims to foster empathy and build a more unified world, demonstrating the power of storytelling to inspire and uplift individuals globally.
